Hazrat Khawaja Imam Hasan Basri Rh

Introduction

Hazrat Imam Hasan basri Rh
Dargah shareef Hazrat Imam Hasan basri Rh

He was blessed with with the essence of learning and committed to practice upon it. He was pious and an abstinent as well. A true follower of the Holy Prophet (SA), he remained drowned in the fear of Allah,His mother was a maidservant of Ummul-Momeneen (the mother of Muslims)HM Umm-e-Salma (RA). Ummul Momeneen used to pick him up, keep him in her lap and offer her breasts whenever he used to cry for his mother busy in some work. Plentitude of passion would cause the flow of milk from her breasts. Could anyone imagine to disputing the rank of the person who was blessed by being fed by the Ummul Momeneen, RA?

Felicity in childhood. Once, in his childhood, he sipped water from the Holy Prophet's (SA) bowl. The Holy Prophet (SA) enquired about the person who drank the water from his (SA) bowl. HM Umm-e-Salma (RA) said, “Hassan".
Hearing this, the Holy Prophet (SA) Said, "He ie. Hassan Basri, (RA) received his (SA) knowledge as much he has consumed the water".

Holy Prophet's (SA) blessing. One day, the Holy Prophet (SA) came to Umme-Salma's (RA) house. She put Hassan Basri (RA) in holy Prophet's (SA) lap. He (SA) prayed for his beneficence. He attained remarkable stature and reached a splendid height of divinity because of this blessing.

Genesis of his name as ‘Hassan'. After his birth, he was brought to HM Omar
(RA). He wished him to be known as 'Hassan' as he was very pretty looking.
HM Umm-e-Salma groomed him and always prayed to Allah to make Hassan
(RA) a pathfinder for men. He was unique among the saints and had the
distinction of inter-acting with one hundred twenty companions of the holy
Prophet (SA) including seventy martyrs of Badr (one of the holy wars). He
took the oath of allegiance at the hands of Hassan-ibn-Ali (RA) and was
educated by him. But the writer of Tufa (a book) says that he was one of the
disciples of HM Ali (RA). In his early days, he traded in jwelry due to which
he came to be known as Hassan 'Loolooyee' (RA).
Once, on a trade mission, he went to Rome. He met the minister there. He was preparing to go to somewhere. The minister asked him if he wished to come

along with him. He agreed. Both reached the forest on horseback. There, he saw a magnificent tent of the king of Rome. Armed men from the army were returning after their circumambulation around the tent. They were followed by learned and distinguished men, who reached the tent, spoke something and went back. Then philosophers, chiefs and officials reached there and went away after saying something. Thereafter, stunningly beautiful girls arrived with gold and jewels in platters on their head. They too, said something and went away. Then, the king and his ministers, too, came, said something and went back. He was surprised and inquired about it. The minister informed him, "The young brave handsome son of the king had died. He is buried here inside the tent. Every year, on this day, everyone gathers here. First of all, the army comes and declares that if it were possible to avoid death through war, they would have saved him by waging a great war. But it is impossible to wage a war against Allah. Then philosophers come and pronounce that if it were possible to stop death by the wisdom and trick they would have certainly stopped it. Then, the theologians and pious men come and express that they would have certainly warded off death if it were possible by prayers. Then,
beautiful girls come and declare that they would have put off death if it had been feasible by beauty and splendor. Then, the king accompanied by his ministers arrives and addresses him:O' my son, I did my best by invoking the best services of the physicians and philosophers. But, who could evade the
command of Allah? And now, till the next year, my blessings are with you. After saying this, he returns."

After listening this, HM Hassan (RA) vowed not to laugh for the rest of his life. He went into seclusion after denouncing the world. It is famous that for continuous seventy years he remained in the state of his ablution. He was prominent among the saints of his time. Someone enquired from a seer as to how Hassan Basari (RA) was better than him. He replied, "Every one needs Hassan Basri's knowledge and he does not need anyone other than Allah. Therefore he is ahead of all of us".

Dignity of HM Rabia Basari, RA. He used to deliver sermon once a week.
He would not begin his sermon till HM Rabia Basari (RA) was present. People submitted, "Many a great seers grace your sermons. Why do you abandon your sermon for the absence of an old lady?" He said, "How could the trough full of syrup meant for the elephants be accommodated in the small pot meant for the ants?" When he, during his sermons, would get high spirited, he used to address Rabia Basari (RA) that it was the effect of her warmth and ebullition.

Apt replies

  • Once people enquired from him if he felt pleased to see big gatherings in his sermons. He answered, "I feel pleased if someone comes afflicted of divine love."
  • Someone asked, "What is Islam and who is a Muslim?" He said, "Islam is in the books and Muslims in their graves".
  • On being asked about the wealth of the faith he said, "Fear of Allah and abstinence"
  • When asked about the meaning of Jannat-e-Adan' and as to who would enter in he said, "There are palaces of gold in it and none but the holy Prophet (SA), Siddiqeens (Ever Truthfuls), martyrs, upright kings and other Prophets, AS,"
  • Question, "Can a spiritual physician treat others?" He replied, "Unless he cures himself first because it is not possible by a wanderer to show the path to others".
  • He exhorted, "Keep listening to my sermons. You may benefit! But, my dalliance won't be harmful to you".
  • People asked him, "Our souls are asleep. How could your sermon influence them?" He replied, "Sleeping souls could be awakened. But dead souls cannot be resuscitated".
  • People submitted to him, "Sayings of some groups cause fear in their soul”. He replied, "You should keep the company of people causing fear in you in this world so that Allah's kindness could be closer to you"
  • People said, "Some people memories your sermon only to criticize you”. He replied, “I am seeking proximity to Allah and long for the paradise only. Critics do not spare even Allah. Therefore I expect the least from the people that they will not call me names".
  • People told him, "Some people say that only he should give counsel to others who has got himself absolutely absolved from misdemeanors".He replied, "Iblees (patriarch of Satan) wishes this only so that commands and prohibitions become extinct".
  • People enquired from him, "Is it proper for faithful to nourish jealousy and grudge”. He replied, "Don't you remember the event of Yusuf (Joseph), AS? They suffered a lot due to jealousy and grudge, only. There is nothing wrong if the element of sorrow is in it".

Hypocracy (pretence, show) is the cause for destruction.

One of his faithfuls used to get in a fit while listening to holy Quran'. He asked him to ensure silence in his act else it may be construed as pretense responsible for men's destruction. He added, "If someone is not actually enraptured but intentionally pretends to be in a state of ecstasy and draws no lesson, he is a sinner." He further said that deliberate weeping was devil's trait.

Fearless pious man.
Once, during his sermon, Hajaj-bin-Yusuf arrived with a bare sword along with his army. Meanwhile an elderly man thought, "Today Hassan Basri (RA) is on trial. Does he get up to show respect or remains busy in his sermon?" He gave no attention to Hajaj's arrival and kept giving his sermon. The eldery man got convinced of his qualities commensurate to his fame and standing when he witnessed non-concern for any one while exhorting the commands of Allah. On conclusion of the sermon, Hajaj kissed his hands and announced to the people, "If you wish to see a pious man he is Hassan (RA)."

After his demise, people saw, in their dream, Hajaj, looking for some one in the field of resurrection. When asked as to what he was looking for, he replied, "Like any one believing in the unity of Allah, he, too, was looking to be blessed by His manifestation".

People say that at the time of death, Hajaj uttered these words, "Allah! Thou art very forgiving and none is greater than Thou. Kindly manifest Thy forgiveness on this handful of dust and forgive me by Thy mercy because entire world says that i don't deserve forgiveness and will be punished for my
sins. If Thou forgive me, everyone will know Thy excellence and will understand the meaning of
fa-a-lun lima yureedo"." On hearing it Hassan Basri (RA) said, "This evil person wants to achieve the next world by his tricks".

Greatness of the preacher.
HM Ali (RA) stopped all the preachers and got their pulpit demolished after his arrival to Basra. When he reached the  congregation (assembly) of HM Hassan Basri (RA), he asked him, "Are you a
learned man or a seeker of knowledge?"

He submitted, "I am nothing. However I share whatever I heard from the sayings of the holy Prophet (SA)." He was permitted to carry on his preaching. When Hassan Basri (RA) knew about the identity of HM Ali (RA) he went to meet him. On meeting him, he requested to be taught the correct way of ablution. HM Ali (RA) asked for a vessel full of water and informed him the method of ablution. Because of this incidence that place was named as 'mukam-e-tasht' (vessel's place).

It is said that once he asked a person about the reason of his wailing. The person said, "I have heard from Muhammad-bin-Ka'b (RA) about a believer who will remain in the hell for his affliction for years".
He replied, "I wish I instead of him were thrown in the hell and he remained
protected as I don't know about myself if I can be pardoned, even, after a
thousand years".

A narrative (story). Once Bassra was affected by such a severe famine that two lakh men came out of the city for ‘Namaz-e-Istasqa' (prayer for dropsy) and prayed raising Hassan Basri (RA) on a pulpit. But he advised them to banish him out of the town if they wished rain. At that moment fear of Allah was evident on his face. He, always, remained mournful. No one, ever, saw him smiling.

Fear of the day of resurrection. Once he kept weeping through out the night. People asked, "You are counted among the most pious persons. Why do you lament so much?"
He replied, "I weep for the day I might have committed a mistake and on
evaluation, Allah may reject my entire prayers addressing me as 'O' Hassan I don't approve your presence in His precincts".

Once on the rooftop of a place of worship, he cried so much that tears flowed like water in a drain. A few drops fell upon a passerby, down below. The person enquired, "Is the water undefined?"
He answered, "Dear brother please get your cloth cleaned because it is a tear
of an afflicted man"

Consequence of the world.
He went for the burial of a person. After the burial he wept so much near the grave that the soil got wet. He said, "If the last stop is the life after death then why should one long for such a world
whose consequence is the grave and why should not one fear that world which commences and ends at the grave, only? Therefore your first and last destination is the grave". People got so overwhelmed by his counsel that they were shaken to their roots breaking into inconsolable grief.

Lesson in visits to graveyard. He along with some people reached a graveyard and said, "Such great dignitaries rest here who did not bow their head before good things of life equivalent to the bounties of eight heavens and whose soul never yearned for such favors. But they carried such wishes along with them into the soil the equivalent of one of them, only, may render the skies into pieces"

Caution.  A wrong deed happened by him in his childhood. As a punishment for that, he, always, used to get it written in the collar of his shirt. It used to remind him about that. It would render him into fits of weeping and mourning.

Counsel. Once, HM Umar bin Abdul Azeez (RA) requested him, through a letter, for an advice, which could be useful in all his activities. In reply, he said, "If Allah is not your helper do not expect help from anyone." In reply to another letter he said, "You should always consider that day when the world would vanish and only the Hereafter will remain."

Philosophy of solitude. When Bishr Hafi (RA) knew about his intention for Haj (Pilgrimage to Mecca), he wrote to Hassan Basari (RA) requesting his desire to accompany him on the pilgrimage. He declined saying that it was his wish to spend his life in secrecy under the protection and blessing of Allah. He added, "If we become fellow travelers then our weaknesses would get uncovered and each one of us would start looking down upon the other."

He gave three advice to Sayyed-bin-Zubair (RA). One, abstain from king's company. Two, never be with any women in privacy even if she is Rabeya Basari (RA). Three, do not indulge into merry-making.

Dispiritedness is ruining. Malik-bin-Dinar (RA) says that when he asked the cause of the ruin he replied, "It is hidden in dispiritedness”. He enquired the explanation of dispiritedness. The saint answered, "It is in getting involved with the world."

Preaching to the Jinns
Once HM Abdullah (RA) went to the mosque of HM Hassan Basari (RA) for the morning's prayer. He found the door closed from inside, Hassan Basari (RA) busy in prayer and heard the sound of 'Amen' by some persons. He stopped outside thinking him engaged with his disciples. When the door opened in the morning, he went inside and found him alone. After the prayer, he enquired about it. He asked me, first, to promise not to mention it to anyone. Then he said that jinns etc. frequented this place for his sermon. He used to pray after the sermon. The jinn responded with 'amen'.

Miracles. Some elderly men accompanied him on pilgrimage to 'Haj". Some of them felt severe thirst. They saw a well without a cord and vessel. When HM Hassan (RA) was told about it, he asked them to quench their thirst when he got busy in prayer. The water of the well oozed out of the well the moment he got up for his prayer. Everyone drank to his content. But one of them kept some water in a goblet in circumspection. Because of this act the well lost its effervescence instantly. He said, "You did not trust Allah. It is the result of that". Then he proceeded, picked some dates en route and distributed among he people. The seeds of these dates were of gold. People bought eatables and gave charity out of the proceeds of the sale of the golden seeds.

Effect of intention. Abu Umru (RA) used to give lessons of 'Quran'. A handsome adolescent boy came for taking lessons from him. He cast an evil eye upon him. Due to this, he forgot the entire 'Quran' at the very moment. He reached HM Hassan Basari (RA) and narrated the entire episode. He ordered him to perform 'Haj' in the near future. He asked him to go to "Masjid-e-Hanif where he would find a person busy in prayers under its dome. He asked him to request that person to pray for him after he was free from his prayers.
Abu Umru (RA) says, "He found a big gathering in the mosque. After a while, a pious person arrived. Everyone rose in his honor. When the saint was alone, I narrated the entire incident. Due to his blessing I remembered the entire Quran, again. In gratitude I kissed his feet. He enquired as to who had directed me to meet him. I took HM Imam Basari's (RA) name. Hearing this he said that Hassan Basari (RA) disgraced him. He, too, will expose his secret. He said that he was Hassan Basari (RA), only, who attended the afternoon (Zohar) prayer today and he would come here everyday and after
talking to him returned to Basara before late afternoon prayer. He added that he did not need any other path-finder who followed HM Hassan Basri (RA)".
It is said that someone's horse developed some defects. When he narrated to him, Hassan Basari (RA) bought that horse for four hundred Dirhams'(currency). In the same night he saw a horse, in his dream, grazing along with four hundred musk horses of the paradise. He enquired, "Whose horses are these?"

The angels replied, "They belonged to you before. Now, they are property of Hassan Basari (RA)".
The man, after awakening, reached HM Hassan (RA) and requested him to return his horse after receiving its cost. He told the man, "The dream you saw, I have already seen before you". Hearing this, he became morose (gloomy) and returned.
Next night Hassan Basari (RA) saw magnificient palaces in his dream. He
enquired, "Whom these palaces belong to?"
He got the reply, "Who-so-ever gives up the sale deed”. He called the owner of the horse the next morning and gave up the deal.

Method of invitation. Shamun, a fire-worshipper, was his neighbour. He was on deathbed. He went to his house and saw his body blackened due to the fire-smoke. He emphasized upon him to embrace Islam after leaving fire worship so that Allah may bless him. He said that he abhorred Islam on four
accounts, "One, why do you engage in worldly affairs if, as per your faith, this world is not a good thing? Two, why do you work for the pleasure of Allah if you think that death is a certainty? Three, why do not prepare yourself for the death when you are sure of it? And why do you conduct
yourself in this world against the pleasure of Allah if you according to your own belief consider the manifestation of the splendor of Allah as to be the most splendid thing?"

He replied, "These are the omissions and commissions of Muslims. But what did you achieve by wasting your time in worship of the fire? A Momin (faithful), whatever he may be, at least he accepts the unity of Allah. You worshiped the fire for seventy years. But it will burn both of us if we fall in it.
Or will it take care of your worship? But my Allah is so powerful that, if he wishes so, the fire can't harm me, the least". Having said this much, he picked up the fire in his hand. The fire did not affect his blessed hand.

Shamun influenced and moved by this situation submitted, “I am involved in fire worship since seventy years. There is no sense in embracing Islam at the fag end of my life". On his insistence for the second time to embrace Islam, he submitted, "I may embrace but on one condition. You should give me a written covenant that Allah almighty will absolve me of all my sins and
forgive me on the day of the judgment."

Accordingly, he handed over the written covenant of the same contents to him. But he asked for the signature of pious people of Basra, also, for proof of evidence. He got their signatures recorded in it. Then Shamun embraced Islam whole-heartedly. He requested, "You should bath me after my death
and lay me in the grave. And this letter of covenant should be put in my hand so that I retain the proof of my becoming a 'Momin' (true Muslim)". Having pronounced this will, he left for heavenly abode with Kalma-e-Shahadat (pronouncement as a confession of being a believer, a Muslim) on his lips.

He fulfilled his entire will. Same night, he saw in his dream that Shamun was walking in the paradise in splendid attire with a jeweled crown on his head. When he asked about his state, he stated, “Allah forgave me by His excellence and the awards bestowed upon me are unable to be explained.
Therefore you do not owe me anything. You please take your letter of covenant back. I do not need it, now."

He found the letter of covenant in his hand when he woke up in the morning He thanked Allah and submitted to him, “Allah! Thy excellence is not dependent upon any means or cause. When Thou pardoned a person with seventy year's fire-worship for reciting, only for once, the words of confessions of accepting Thy religion (Kalema) how could one be unfortunate of Thy excellence, who spent seventy years praying to Thee and practicing Thy commands?"

Humbleness. He was so humble in temperament that he considered everyone better than him. One day, he saw an Abyssinianian consuming alcohol holding the bottle in front along with a lady on the banks of the river Tigris. He got a reflection, "Is he, also, better than me? He is a drunkard”.
Meanwhile, a boat with seven persons appeared and within no time it capsized. The Abyssinian immediately plunged into water and rescued six of them, one by one. He came up to him and said, "Can you save, even, a single drowning person? I was testing the state of your hidden eye. This lady with me is my mother and this bottle contains plain water".

He got convinced that the man was from the other world. He fell on his feet and requested him, "The way you saved these six persons, please save me from my pride and conceit." Thereafter he never considered himself better than anyone. On the sight of a dog he used to beg forgiveness from Allah for the sake of the dog.

A person asked him, "Was he better than the dog or the dog was better than him?"He replied, "If I am forgiven from punishment I am better otherwise the dog is better than hundreds of sinners".

Some person informed him about a man back-biting about him. He sent the concerned man fresh dates in gratitude with the message, “I heard that you got your good deeds entered in my record (of deeds). I can't compensate for it”.

Inspiring incidents. He said, "It stuns me when I think of four persons: An eunuch, the mad saint, a boy and a women."

  • When requested by the people, he narrated his encounter with the eunuch—when I tried to avoid him, he told me, "So far, no one was aware of his state. You should not avoid me. Allah, only, is informed of the day of resurrection."
  • A man was carelessly moving with trembled steps through muddy soil. I asked him to take measured steps else he had a fall. He advised of the day of resurrection."me to keep my feet firm because he would be alone in his fall but the entire nation may fall along with me. His advice is still effective on me.
  • Once a boy was carrying a lamp. I asked him, "Where did he bring the light from?” He extinguished the lamp and questioned me to first explain, "Where the light has gone?"
  • Once, a beautiful lady without covering her head, mouth wide open and in a state of rage came to me to complain against her husband. I asked her to cover her hands and face, first. She replied, "She has lost her sense in love for her husband. Had I not warned her she would have gone to the town in this condition.” She, further, expressed her surprise as to how I remained in sense despite claiming to be engrossed in the love for Allah and saw others in its light.
  • Once, he descended from the pulpit after the sermon, stopped a few persons and expressed to draw attention to them. He asked a person to go. He didn't belong to his association.

Disclosure of truth. Once he mentioned to his followers that they were akin to the companions of the holy Prophet (SA). People were overjoyed after hearing it. Then he told them, “I never meant to equate you with the companions of the holy Prophet (SA) in terms of their acts and values. You
have some resemblance in your physical appearance, only. The state of his (SA) companions was such that you would have taken them to be mad and had they observed your state they would have never accepted you as believers. The companions of the holy Prophet (SA) galloped on horse backs with lightning speeds and you were left on the backs of injured mules unable to move due to their damaged loin."

Endurance. A villager asked him the meaning of endurance. He said, "There are two types of endurance. One, remain ratient while inflicted and troubled. Two, abstain from acts forbidden by Allah".

The illiterate person told him, "You are a great abstinent."
He replied, "My abstinence is for the longing of the Hereafter and patience for impatience".
The illiterate man said, "I didn't understand it".
He said, "My endurance in affliction or obedience to Allah is only to escape the wrath of the fire of the hell. It is called retribution (reward). My abstinence is merely propelled by my wish to seek my share on the day of resurrection and not for the safety of my soul and body. He is enduring who does not nourish any desire of the day of resurrection. Instead, his endurance should be for Allah, only. This is the symptom of attachment."
.

Sayings.

It is prudent upon men to remain engaged in acquiring comprehensive and beneficial knowledge, loyalty (attachment), contentment and good endurance. And when he achieves it, his status would be unimaginable in the Hereafter.

He said that goats and sheep were better informed than men because they stopped grazing on one call of the grazer but men did not bother for the command of Allah before their desires.

Bad company pulls men away from good people. If someone calls me for alcohol I will prefer to go there than get attracted by the world.

Knowledge of Allah comes by abdication of enmity and contention because paradise is gained not merely by acts but mainly by sincerity of intention.

Paradise's observation will cause stunning effect upon people for over seven hundred years because they would be absolved in the unity of divine manifestation and awe-struck by the majesty of Allah.

Prudence is such a mirror where good and bad could be observed.

Saying without a lesson conceals a conflict within.

Silence devoid of thought amounts to merry-making and ignorance.

Torah (Jews' heavenly book) says that the contented person becomes unconcerned with other subjects (does not need them).

He is safe who goes into seclusion.

He became free who abandoned human desires.

He achieved love if he abstained from jealousy.

He became head over others who spent his life with patience and peace.

There are three stages of piety. One, to speak truth, even, in anger and rage. Two, to abstain from things prohibited by Allah.Three, to remain happy with ordain of Allah.

A little piety is better than Namaz (five times Muslim prayer) and fast of a thousand years because piety and prudence are best among the acts.

I would have abstained from everything of the world if I didn't possess hypocrisy. Hypocrisy is the name of absence of sincere intention.

Every 'Momin' (true Muslim) had felt the fear of hypocrisy within him. And 'Momin' is defined as one who is tolerant and prays in isolation (seclusion).

Backbiting of three types of men is correct: one, a greedy man; two, a transgressor (a sinner); three, a tyrant king.

Expiation (atonement) for backbiting is asking forgiveness from Allah. One should apologies to the person concerned.

Men have been sent to such a house where of all the legitimate and unlawful accounts will be audited.

Everyone carries three wishes along with him from this world. One,the lust to accumulate. Two, he could not achieve as per his desire.Three, he could not gather provisions for the Hereafter.

Someone informed him about a person who was in agony of death. He said, "He is in the state of agony since his arrival in this world".

Worthless ones got escaped and heavy ones perished. Desirous of the world puts himself in destruction.

Forgiveness is due to him who is not proud of worldly charm. The wise man abandons the world and remains busy in the thought of the Hereafter.

Allah-knowing persons treat the world as their enemy and world-loving men treat Allah as theirs.

Nothing is more rebellious than desire.

If you wish to see the condition of the world after you leave it then observe its condition after others left it.

How strange it is that for the sake of attachment to the world, even, idols are worshiped.

Before your arrival the heavenly books were held in high esteem, people used to spend their nights in thinking over the meanings of the 'commands & messages of the scriptures and committing themselves accordingly in the day. Though, you added (applied) strokes to the letters but abandoned the right acts and busied yourselves in the comfort of the world.

Allah humiliates him who falls in love with gold and wealth.

The state of his heart is not good who lives in fools' company.First practice, then preach others.

Who talks ill of others before you, he, certainly, would be talking ill of you before others.

Brethren in faith are dearer to us because they are helpful to us in matters of faith.

Allah will not hold you accountable for your expenditure on guests and friends but what is spent on parents will put to scrutiny.

A prayer without concentration becomes a curse.

Humility is the name of fear in the heart of the man.

Someone informed him about a man who since last twenty years had not been closer to any women nor met anyone neither prayed in assembly. He went to look him up. He begged his excuse for his commitment. He asked him as to what kept him busy. He replied that there was not a single breath of his in which he did not receive the
divine blessings and he did not commit a sin. He said, "Your engagement is better than mine".

Someone asked him if, ever, he got happiness? He narrated, “One day,I was standing on the roof top of my prayer house. My neighbor's wife was speaking to her husband that she compromised to live with him with patience and peace and never demanded anything from him,
which was beyond his capacity, never complained of poverty or anything against him. All theses she bore, only, to ensure that he didn't marry a second wife. She would complain against him to the 'Imam-e-Waqi' (religious leader of the time) if he intended for the
second marriage. I felt pleased to listen to it because it was totally in conformity with the 'Quran' 'certainly Allah will not pardon him who associated someone with Him and will forgive anyone whom He wished to'."

Someone asked, his state. He replied, "What do you want to know about the state of a man who is in the river and floating over a plank of the broken boat?"
He said, "It is a serious condition".
The saint replied, “This is the state of mine".

Once, after the Eid prayer, he passed through a place where he found people in merry-making, laughing and joking. He said, “I am surprised at people who forget their state in laughter and merry-making”.

Someone was eating sweets in a graveyard. He said, "He is a dissembler (pretender) because whose urges get activated, even, before the dead ones, he does not believe in the death and the Hereafter. A person who does not have faith in either of them is a
'Munafiq' (dissembler).

Once he was supplicating before Allah like this, "Allah! I failed to thank Thy bounties and left patience (obdurant) in a state of indulgence. But despite the absence of thanks Thou didn't deny me
the blessing of Thy bounties. Despite my non-observance of patience Thou kept resolving my problems”.

Death. At the time of death, he kept smiling and repeatedly saying, "Which sin?" He left this world with these words on his lips. Some seer saw him in his dream. He asked him, "What made you smile at the time of death? Why were you pronouncing 'which sin' repeatedly?”

He replied that at the time of death he heard a call asking the angel of the death to be tough with him, as one sin had remained. He added that he felt happy hearing it and enquired about the sin repeatedly.
Next night, a saint saw a dream,“Windows of the sky are open and a call is being given that Hassan Basari (RA) reached his Allah and Allah is pleased with him".
